Privacy Policy

To use Second Look you describe a case — a name or register number, the charge, the relief sought, and the facts you choose to share. On the mobile app, your case files are stored on your device. No account is required to begin, and we do not ask for your own name, address, or contact information.

When you run an analysis or draft a motion, the case details you entered are sent to our server and to the services below solely to produce your result, then returned to you:

• Anthropic (the AI that reads the decisions, builds the scorecard, and drafts the motion). Your inputs are processed to generate the response and are not used to train their models.
• CourtListener / the Free Law Project to search real, public court opinions.
• The Federal Bureau of Prisons public inmate locator, when you look someone up by name or register number.
• Vercel, which hosts the service and processes requests.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

The Case Pass is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see or store your payment details. Whether you own the Case Pass is recorded by the App Store and on your device so the app can unlock the features you paid for.

SecondView can get smarter over time — but only with your explicit permission, and only with anonymous data. This is off by default. If you turn it on, and only then, SecondView keeps a de-identified pattern of a case you run: the type of relief sought, a broad charge category, coarse ranges (for example an age band or a sentence range), whether certain factors were present, and the public court decisions that were surfaced with their outcomes.

It never includes a name, the facts you typed, a register number, or anything that could identify a person — those are stripped on your device before anything is sent, and are never stored. The anonymous pattern is not linked to you or any account, and is used only to help SecondView surface what works for the next person. You can turn this off any time in the app under your account.

Case facts can be deeply personal — medical conditions, family circumstances, criminal history. Share only what helps the analysis. Because your case files live on your device, anyone with access to your unlocked phone could see them; protect your device with a passcode.

Second Look is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

You can delete any case file in the app at any time, which removes it from your device. Uninstalling the app removes all case files stored on the device.
